Bellevue is an independent city, but is often considered a kind of extension of Seattle. Its excellent facilities, pretty surroundings, and fantastic local transport means it's often voted as one of the best places to live in the U.S. Within Bellevue itself are a number of museums and wildlife parks. Seattle, meanwhile, is famous as the home of great coffee, and is one of America's most cultural destinations.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is a 40-minute drive from Bellevue. Head up I-405 and you'll pass by the Coral Creek Natural Area just before you get to the city. Seattle is just a 15-minute car ride away, via Mercer Island and Lacey V. Murrow Bridge.
Bellevue Arts Museum focuses on design and fine art, and is a fascinating local hotspot. Coral Creek, Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park, and Mercer Slough Nature Park offer virtually endless hiking and cycling trails. If you love the great outdoors but prefer to stick to town, visit the splendid Bellevue Botanical Gardens.
The city's famous skyline is crowned by the Space Needle, from where you'll get unparalleled views across the city and surrounding area. Pike Place Market is a fantastic place to pick up some gifts, including beans from local coffee roasters. The Seattle Asian Art Museum focuses on pieces from Japan and China, and the Pacific Science Center has many interactive exhibits.
